Dr Shreerang Bhide

Dr Shreerang Bhide is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist And Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Royal Marsden Hospital and The Institute of cancer Research in London and Sutton, He specialises in the treatment of patients with Head and Neck and Gastrointestinal cancers using advanced radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT and IGRT.
His research programme at the Institute of Cancer Research is investigating the molecular determinants of response to Chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in tumours and normal tissues and circulating tumor DNA in head and neck cancer.
Dr Bhide completed general medical training at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, and specialist training at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS trust and University College Hospitals, London.
He was awarded a PhD in Radiation Oncology in 2009. He has published over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and has been awarded competitive research fellowships as well as international prizes for his research.
Circulating HPV DNA in Locally advanced head and neck cancer.
Following chemo-radiotherapy (CCRT) for human papilloma virus positive (HPV+) locally advanced head and neck cancer, patients frequently undergo unnecessary neck dissection (ND) and/or repeated biopsies for abnormal PET-CT, which causes significant morbidity. We assessed the role of circulating HPV DNA in identifying “true” residual disease using a novel next generation sequencing assay – HPV-detect.
