3D printing, virtual surgery and mixed reality in the OR - fad or trend?

In this talk, we will explore role of 3D printing as it applies in the modern operating room and medical simulation based on the experience at a leading Children’s Hospital in the United States. We will also look how augmented and mixed reality in the operating room can help presurgical planning, training of physicians and patient education using real life examples. Challenges in implementing these technologies and ways to assess whether these technologies bring about a change in patient outcome will also be discussed.
