Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research
Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research aims to improve the quality of life for the 40,000+ people living with spinal cord injury (SCI) in the UK.
Our research is motivated by the needs of individuals living with SCI that face daily medical challenges as a result of their injury. These include neuropathic pain, pressure sores, urinary tract infections and poor hand function, severely impacting on their quality of life.
Our research priorities aim to:
- Alleviate and prevent the chronic medical complications of spinal cord injury
- To validate and test assistive technology in order to improve neurorehabilitation and everyday life
- To address the specific needs of children and the social and psychological impact of living with spinal cord injury
Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and governed by a Board of Trustees.
